I would just like to tell you all about the Avenue Bereavement Support group which is run by Joy sole for those parents who have lost a child of any age.
Safe Harbour have recommended several people to this wonderful group and I can fully recommend it as a safe and supportive group
The meetings are held on the first Monday of the month (where the first Monday is a bank holiday they usually meet the following Monday) at Avenue Baptist Church, Milton Road, Westcliff on Sea, SS0 7JX The meetings start at 10:30 and finish at 1pm
Joy has produced a booklet (copies can be obtained from Joy or we hold some at Safe Harbour if you would like to pop in and collect one) the booklet explains the meetings :-
Avenue Bereaved Parents support group is a safe place for parents who have sadly lost a child through any circumstances.
We meet to chat about our shared grief, with respect for others in the group, knowing we will be heard and listened to in confidence. We can cry without feeling it is wrong to do so. Talking about our child is good, but can make us emotional too. We can share ideas that have helped. Swap or borrow books that have been helpful. pick up useful leaflets, We have a photo board of our children, if you wish to share a photo with us ect……..
